What Can You Expect from Me During Summer 2019?

It’s nearly time for the school summer holidays – which means I have to contend with juggling the writing work and the, apparently constant, need to entertain my children. But! Instead of it being a summer of just kicking back and playing in the sun with the kids, I have managed to arrange things so that I am going to be super busy.

First up will be the publication of my second book – ‘The Truth of Her’.

This is a follow-up to the first book, ‘The Point of Me’ and forms the middle section of a series, which I am calling ‘Beyond Veils’, that will eventually include a further third book. ‘The Truth of Her’ takes Lyra’s story forward and deals with some pretty big themes (my readers will not be surprised to hear this, as ‘The Point of Me’ dealt with big questions too). The ‘Truth of Her’ features themes such as ‘what do tragedy and horrific events have to teach us’ and ‘How do Karmic rules work?’. I’ve also been very interested to explore what female anger can look like.

I am *so* excited to publish this second book. I loved the process of writing it and I think the themes it focusses on are really important ones that deserve consideration. I hope you will all love the story as much as I have enjoyed creating it - I’m on tenterhooks to receive the first reviews. Certainly, my advanced readers gave me some lovely compliments which has really helped my confidence.

Second up will be a republication of my first book – ‘The Point of Me’

It is coming up to the 2nd anniversary of when I published ‘The Point of Me’ and I wanted to mark this by giving it a brand new beautiful cover (both for the love of it but also because of the newly coined ‘Beyond Veils’ series that it now belongs to and which therefore needs to be on the cover).

I have been working with a fantastic book cover designer, Stuart Bache, and his company Books Covered. He is designing ‘The Truth of Her’ book cover too, and I am so delighted with the designs he has come up with. They’re pieces of art, in my humble opinion. I hope you’ll love them as much as I do and help celebrate ‘The Point of Me’ being two years published.

Third up will be an audiobook version of ‘The Point of Me’

I thought that getting an audiobook produced would be beyond my indie-author reach – but the universe thought otherwise. It is funny how these things can work out. Within a couple of days of receiving a suggestion from a potential reader, who can only use audiobook format, and wanted to read the story, I had found a way to make this happen that was within my purse-string capabilities!

The lovely Amy Foley, actress and producer is recording the story - bringing a vibrant warmth to the narration. It has been thrilling to hear my written words spoken aloud in a voice that is not my own! I am so pleased with the job Amy is doing and cannot wait to add this format to the ‘stable’. We’re aiming to release it onto the Audible, iPhone and of course Amazon platforms in September.

Fourth up will be starting the third book in the ‘Beyond Veils’ series

The storyline is sketched, the main characters coming into focus and the book’s title already chosen. Now I just need my children to respect my writing time during the summer holidays and let me begin it!
